Monitors daily activities for the 135 maintenance operations. Receives calls from the field in reference to aircraft being placed out of service (OOS) for maintenance. Creates all OOS for maintenance pages and is responsible for OOS maintenance updates. Supplies mechanics with return to service (RTS) sign offs. Initiates calls to mechanics for unscheduled maintenance and coordinates all efforts in returning an aircraft to service to include personnel, parts, tools and technical data.


A. Receives incoming calls from Mechanics/Pilots for aircraft being place OSS for maintenance.

  • Reviews with Mechanic/Pilot proper write up to be entered into the engineering log
  • Initiates OOS page/maintain updates as required
  • Contacts necessary personnel to begin RTS process
  • Assists mechanics in trouble shooting aircraft and engine problems, works through procedures to identify proper parts required and arrange for their shipment
  • Initiates Tech Log in RAMCO outlining discrepancy scheduled or unscheduled
  • Issues MEL control numbers for deferred maintenance issues authorization for inspection/overhaul extensions
  • Coordinates all activities from initial contact to RTS to include, but not limited to, personnel requirements, possible multiple shift requirements, parts requirements and affectivity, special tooling/facility requirement, and travel and hotel accommodations as required

B. Maintains records for currency

  • Compiles daily reports of missed flight, ensures all required logbook entries have been made
  • Maintains MEL master log and ensures compliance, issues MEL extensions as appropriate
  • Maintain log of authorized inspection extensions
  • Ensures all maintenance performed is addressed in RAMCO through the use of the Tech Log
  • Collects date for the submission of FAR part 135.415 service difficulty reporting (SDR)

C. Maintenance and Inspection 

  • Assists in the directing, planning and the laying out the details of inspections and other work to be performed at regions as requested
  • Organizes effort between RMO’s for additional support and/or parts, and ensures all time change components are shipped by Materials in a timely manner, prioritizes the issuing of those parts

D. Other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Assists records section as required
  • Assists the Maintenance Control Supervisor, ADOM/DOM in the surveillance of AEL 135 operations for compliance


A. Education:

  • High school or equivalent training 

B. Skills:

  • Current A & P certificate or equivalent, must be able to obtain A & P license within six months of employment
  • Current state driver license

C. Experience:

  • Five years of aircraft maintenance experience with a minimum of three years working with Bell helicopter products
